The Health faculties at Aarhus and Copenhagen Universities invite applicants for two fulltime positions as Senior Teaching Fellow of BioMedical Design Novo Nordisk Foundation Fellowship Programme. One of the positions will be at Aarhus University and the other one at University of Copenhagen. The job post here concerns the position at the University of Copenhagen.

The BioMedical Design Novo Nordisk Foundation Fellowship Programme aim to provide talented innovation leaders to research institutions, the healthcare sector and life science industry. Further, it is the ambition that a number of new startups in life science and medical technologies are formed out of this educational training programme. This new initiative is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation for 5 years with the purpose of training 64 talented specialist to become health innovation leaders of the future. As a BioMedical Design Senior Teaching Fellow you will play a key role in contributing to the educational content, the educational process and the coaching of BioMedical Design Fellows. Therefore, we are looking for candidates passionate about and experienced within health technology innovation and business development.

Tasks and responsibilities in the job 

  • Together with the other staff members on the programme you will co-design the BioMedical Design education process and the content.
  • Teaching; The content of your own teaching will be a mixture of fixed need-driven innovation methodologies which you will be introduced to beforehand and relevant subject matters from your own professional background. Examples of topics could be business/start-up financing, product design, design-thinking, market analyses, intellectual property rights, medical technologies, regulatory issues, business modeling and development, project management and team work.
  • Mentoring of BioMedical Design Fellows to ensure high quality adherence to methodologies and processes taught.
  • Continuous improvement of the BioMedical Design programme.
  • Identification of and coordination with external lecturers.
  • Expanding and nursing BioMedical Design network (both nationally and internationally)
  • co-create e-learning material with colleagues and in coordination with our stakeholders.
  • Key responsibility area(s) which will be decided when the final team is set
  • Contribute to promotion and recruitment of Fellowship applicants.

You should expect around 30 days of travelling within Denmark each year and around 6 days/year of travelling internationally

Qualifications needed:
As we are setting a whole team of educators and mentors we are open for a selection of academic educational backgrounds, and it will be the combination of educational background and professional experience which will form basis for selection of candidates.

  • more than 8 years of professional work experience (private sector will be favored)
  • You will be an experienced qualified practitioner or academic with background in fields of either engineering (medical), economics, entrepreneurship, business/marketing or industrial/service design.
  • Experience with postgraduate training, consulting and/or mentoring will be preferred.
  • Experience with cross-sectorial or multi-partner projects (within research, product innovation/development, market access).
  • Fluent in English (oral and written). You should be able to lecture and give mentoring in English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to be flexible and responsive in a team are crucial.
  • You are motivated by and interested in educational activities of personal development at an academic level.

You will be employed at The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Novo Nordisk Foundation Fellowship Programme, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3, 2200 Copenhagen with reference to the managing director of the Programme, Sys Zoffmann Glud.

Period of employment:
You will be employed as Specialkonsulent (special consultant) and the position is time limited from 1 January 2019(or soon thereafter) to 31 July 2023.

Qualification supplement can be negotiated individually.
