Dette job er udløbet

Department of Neurosurgery at Linköping University Hospital is a part of the Anesthetics, Operations and Specialty Surgery Centre in Region Östergötland, Sweden. The catchment area is the South-East Health Care Region of Sweden with a population of one million. There are eight referring local hospitals. We provide comprehensive neurosurgical care for this population, including all subspecialties, except stereotactic radiosurgery. There are approximately 25 doctors, including 16 neurosurgeons, 2 endovascular specialists, 2 residents and 4 juniors. Neurointervention/Endovascular Neurosurgery is an integral part of the Neurosurgical department at our hospital.

The department has 200 employees, have 1750 admissions a year, 1800 surgical procedures, 5300 hours of surgery, 8600 inpatient days and 2200 outpatient doctor visits. Revenues of SEK 310 million.

The department has a Ward with 15 regular beds, 6 Postop beds and an Intermediary Care Unit of 2-3 beds. The Neurointensive Care Unit (NICU) with 6 beds is also a part of the Neurosurgical department.

Our department is fully equipped in newly built spacious facilities and has a modern endovascular lab and 3 operation rooms dedicated for neurosurgery. We are also building intraoperative MRI facilities in conjunction with the NICU. This will provide one more OR and direct access to MRI for NICU and other inpatients.

Neurointervention in Sweden is performed at six University hospitals. In all other hospitals it is a part of radiological departments. We see a great advantage of having this as an integral part of our Neurosurgical department since the establishment of neurointervention at our hospital many years back. It facilitates discussions, team work, decision making and provides for a more comprehensive and holistic view of the patient and treatment options. It makes for a more natural logistic path and continuity of patient care.
