DIGNITY seeks medical doctor for the work against torture worldwide

DIGNITY is seeking a full-time medical doctor with documented experience in treatment and rehabilitation of victims of torture or similar trauma, preferably from a multicultural setting. Extensive experience with development projects and health capacity building in developing countries is a must. Teaching and research experiences are a considerable asset. Advanced English skills are a must, and additional language skills (preferably French or Arabic) are an advantage.

The candidate could have a specialization in psychiatry or rehabilitation medicine, but other specialties might be relevant too.

The position includes the following responsibilities to be exercised in collaboration with colleagues with different educational backgrounds:

  • Develop strategies for implementing rehabilitation capacity for torture victims in developing countries
  • Implement rehabilitation projects with co-responsibility in all phases of the project cycle
  • Undertake training and curriculum development in rehabilitation related issues
  • Develop health professional tools and methods for the rehabilitation of torture victims
  • Participate in research and knowledge generation within the field

The incumbent will be a part of the Health department, reporting to the Director of the Health Department, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team of highly committed medical doctors, MPH and students of medicine and public health.
