Aarhus University Hospital Risskov is one of the largest and most specialized centres of its kind in Denmark.
The centre consists of four specialized clinical departments:
Department for Psychosis and Schizophrenia P
Department for Depression and Anxiety Q
Department for Forensic Psychiatry R and
Centre for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Furthermore, a Translational Neuropsychiatric Unit is conducting basic research.

Research conducted at the Aarhus University Hospital Risskov is at a high international level and includes clinical research, research in epidemiology and genetics as well as basic research. We collaborate with a number of national and international research centres and clinicians.

The clinical professor and the management of Department Q are responsible for the scientific development. The clinical professor is expected to conduct research according to his/her own professional profile and specific competences together with the researchers within the Department Q and in accordance with the management of Department Q.

Department Q is responsible for highly specialized treatment of affective disorders and anxiety disorders including OCD, PTSD, personality disorders and transcultural psychiatry. The department comprises four in-patient units, each with 17 beds and a large outpatient clinic. The department employs 18 specialists in psychiatry, 12-19 residents in psychiatry and 37 psychologists.

The position as a clinical professor
The applicant is expected to have a special interest and expertise within the area of affective disorders and to collaborate with the professors at the other psychiatric departments to establish research across the departments. The professors are engaged in a formal collaboration in which a common research strategy is promoted and mutual projects are encouraged.

The clinical professor refers to the head of the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, concerning university related matters and to the management of Department Q regarding clinical matters.

A part time secretary is associated with the professorship.

Currently, a clinical professor and chair is in place at the Department for Psychosis P as well as a professor at the Translational Neuropsychiatric Unit. A chair in child and adolescent psychiatry is in place at the Centre for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

The clinical professor and the chair in adult psychiatry are jointly responsible for the pre-graduate curriculum for medical students at Aarhus University.

The applicant must be clinically qualified as a consultant in psychiatry. In addition, the applicant should document scientific qualifications within psychiatry and an interest in one or several of the sub-specialities in the Department Q. We welcome a specialist in clinical psychiatry with a high level of professional skills within his or her area of interest and with a documented research portfolio at an international level and solid teaching skills. Experience in research leadership and teaching is required. In addition, academic integrity, high ethical standards, openness, good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop constructive and respectful internal and external collaborations will be highly prioritized.

These conditions are an integrated and mutually binding collaboration between the University Hospital and the Faculty at every corresponding level of management.

Required qualifications
In making the appointment, emphasis will be placed on the extent, quality and originality of the applicant’s body of international scientific publications, including contributions to further developing the subject area in question. Moreover, an assessment will be made of the applicant’s research management abilities.
